Our PE Apprentice J regularly set up athletics and games activities for our PE sessions, suggesting suitable equipment and appropriate activities to support the children’s development. I have appreciated his organisation; he is ready on time thereby maximising learning time. He was invaluable at swimming lessons helping pupils who were very nervous about being in the water.

He has developed good relationships with the children and begun to use behaviour management techniques to ensure the sessions are productive. His contribution to sports day was brilliant – the sessions flowed well and he organised the transitions effectively to ensure the children remained engaged.

We have really enjoyed having J work with us this year and thank him for his contribution.

…..’I feel completely reassured that should support ever be required, Louise will follow this through to ensure that it is received in the most appropriate way, whether that’s through discussions with potential learners and their line managers, or by seeking further insight and guidance from course tutors who are subject experts. It is clear that Louise and her colleagues at Riverside always put the learner at the heart of all they do – I feel confident that I can trust them to give me the appropriate information so that the optimum level of support can be provided to learners, setting them up for long-term success and development. The support they also provide to learners is excellent, holding frequent meetings and helping them feel prepared and confident for their EPA through mock assessments.

‘We have been amazed by the PE Apprentice Scheme run by Stride Active and Riverside Training. Our learner E has been an asset to the school. She works closely with our PE teachers and me (her mentor). She is willing to listen to advice whilst being proactive. She is now running a breakfast and after school club for some of our vulnerable children. This was all her own idea – she has created a poster to get children involved and planned all of the sessions. She has engaging and innovative ideas which the children love. Her rapport with the kids is fantastic – they understand she is there to create fun with them but they have the utmost respect for her because of her great behaviour management. She has passion and a secure knowledge of sport and physical activity – she is able to adapt in all situations. She is an incredibly hard-working member of our team and I have had so many positive comments from other members of staff.’
