The Riverside Training Learner Journey
Employer Engagement – Your employer has:
- Contacted Riverside Training to register interest in receiving training
- Discussed and identified training needs
- Received and understood the course literature and outlines
- Completed an on-site training needs analysis
- Signed a contract engaging with Riverside as a provider
- Agreed to fund the qualification
- Understood their commitments and obligations of the qualifications
- Confirmed the job duties to be undertaken and salary to be given (minimum apprenticeship wage £4.30 per hour)
- Provided us with your name, email address, and training sector
Learner pre-signup
- You will complete a skills scan to identify that the qualification is achievable in your role and send back to Riverside, this will take approximately 5 minutes
- Based on the results of your skills scan, Riverside will confirm that the qualification is both suitable and achievable, if it is not then Riverside will offer an alternative
- Once the qualification has been confirmed, you will be added to BUD, our virtual learning environment Riverside within 24 hours
- A link will be sent via email for you to complete, comprising of:
- Personal details
- Employment overview
- Qualification overview
Once you have completed this information on BUD, your designated Work Based Tutor (WBT) will be assigned to you by Riverside’s Operations Manager usually within 1 working day.
Riverside will then contact you or your Line Manager to arrange a sign up date that is mutually convenient for you, your Line Manager and your WBT.
- You will receive an email from BUD confirming the time, duration, and date of the remote sign up meeting
- Another link will be sent via e-mail with a ‘Basic and Key Skill Builder’ BKSB log in
- You will also be required to complete your Functional Skills Initial Assessments in Maths, English & possibly ICT (depending on what qualification you are doing)
- You will also be sent a link to complete a neurodiversity analysis called CognAssist – this takes approximately 40 minutes to complete
You will need to find your:
- Maths, English and possibly ICT GCSE or Functional Skills certificates
- National Insurance number
- Photographic ID (Driving Licence, Passport, UK Biometric Residents Permit or EU Identity Card)
Sign up process
- A remote sign up meeting will take place between yourself, your Line Manager and your WBT at your place of work (a remote session can be conducted if necessary)
During this sign up meeting you will complete the registration process on BUD:
- Have your ID verified and recorded
- Record any disabilities, learning difficulties or need for additional support
- Your Line Manager will confirm the Employer Details section
- The WBT will record your qualifications from the evidence you have provided
- You will write a short written statement saying why you would like to complete the qualification and what you hope to gain from it
- You and you Line Manager will electronically sign an Application Summary of the above
- You, your Line Manager and WBT will then electronically sign an Commitment Statement confirming:
- The standard or framework
- Any inbuilt qualifications
- Any functional skills qualifications
- The timeline for all of the above
- Your off the job hours
- Your commitments, the employer’s commitments and the training provider’s commitments
- Any exemptions
- Your full learning plan
- Your Line Manager and WBT will then electronically sign a Funding Agreement
- If required an Additional Learning Support plan will be agreed and signed
In-learning
- You will have access to your full learning plan via BUD
- You can access all set activities, learning resources, materials, due date and instructions via BUD
- You can message your WBT via BUD
- You can upload work via BUD
You will be able to see your progress:
- Activities completed
- 20% Off-the-job hours completed (OTJ)
- Time on programme and key dates
- Assessment criteria completed
The status of all activities:
- Unset
- Set
- Submitted
- Partially complete
- Assessment complete
- Complete
You will attend quarterly reviews with your Line Manager and WBT – these are recorded in BUD:
You will receive email notifications when any of the following happens:
- A piece of work is set
- You receive a message from your WBT
- Your work has been marked
- Your work is soon to become overdue
- Your activity is overdue
- A review has been scheduled
Completion
Gateway – this is the planning and confirmation of your readiness to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA)
- You need to have your required Maths and English qualifications
- You need to have passed any mandatory additional qualifications if applicable
- You need to agree with the Employer and WBT that you are ready for EPA
- You will need to agree and book a date and location for the EPA – this should be done approximately 12 weeks prior to the predicted end date
- You will create a portfolio of evidence, if required
- You will sit a mock EPA with a Riverside representative other than your WBT
