Why did you decide to choose this qualification?

I chose to do the Business Administration Level 3 qualification because the majority of jobs at the hospital that I looked to apply for entitled this qualification as essential on the job specification. It is also very hard to get into the NHS so I found that doing an apprenticeship helps you get your foot in the door. I also chose to do this apprenticeship because I am learning and getting a qualification, as well as getting paid.

What were your goals/expectations before you started this qualification?

Before I started this qualification I was doing a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism. I wanted to be a cabin crew member. I then attended an interview for a cabin crew member position. It was then that I realised that I didn’t want to take up that job role. Previously, I worked as a health care assistant and enjoyed the patient contact however, the pay wasn’t amazing for the amount of hours I worked and there wasn’t a progression route. I then saw this apprenticeship role and found that it was the perfect thing to go into as I will get a qualification at the end of it.

What did you learn during this qualification and what did you find the most enjoyable?

I’ve learnt about business production of documents, methods of communication and a lot more.

Whilst being on the apprenticeship I’ve learnt all about the different aspects of administration. I’ve also learnt about how to use the different administration systems in the NHS. What I’ve found the most enjoyable from the apprenticeship is the on the job learning, which included booking people in on the reception desk, booking follow up appointments for patients – just the basic service that we give to patients is what I enjoy doing.

Next Steps – what are your future plans and what do you intend to do once you have completed the qualification?

My future plans are to finish the apprenticeship in a good amount of time and apply for a full time job at the hospital doing administration. I then want to work my way up the system (Banding). Eventually I would like to be high in administration at the Hospital.
