Brief overview of the role
At Abbot Accounting, our aim is to provide reliable accountancy services to help you concentrate on running and developing your business. We have a team of certified chartered accountants who are commercially driven and focus on excellence. We are looking to recruit a Accounting Apprentice to support all members of the team whilst working accurately towards strict targets and deadlines.
Vacancy description
- Allocation of sales and expenses from a third-party software into the ledger ensuring that they are correctly coded to the correct account.
- Create sales invoices and match the receipts in bank to the relevant customer account.
- Monthly bank reconciliation of several accounts, reconciling ledger to bank statements and raising journals where required.
- Ensure prompt receipt of invoices and chase up customers where required.
- Assist the team with monthly payroll and month-end journals and reports.
- Data entry in clients’ accounts
- Bookkeeping
- Assist the accountant with basic accounting duties.
Desired skills
- The candidate must have a strong interest in working in a busy finance environment, meet targets and deadlines and possess a keen attention to detail.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some experience of working with accounting software: Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
Personal qualities
- A high degree of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to deliver to deadlines.
Desired qualifications
- Minimum of 4 GCSE grade 4 or above, including Maths and English
Future prospects
- Potential for an ongoing position on successful completion of the apprenticeship
